Sekiguchi Toshio Kokeshi Doll – Plum Child (11cm/4.3 inches)

This creative kokeshi doll was made and signed by master Sekiguchi Toa (1947-). She’s titled 梅童 (Umewarabe) which means “Plum Child”. Made of lovely dogwood (mizuki) her kimono features two large red plum flowers. Her hair is slightly carved in the front and she has an adorable smile on her face.

Master Sekiguchi Toshio was born in Shibukawa City, Gunma-ken, and still lives and works there, all of whom also create creative Kokeshi dolls. He won many awards including the new comer award at the young age of 15.

In mint condition. Comes in the original box with the original wooden sign.
