Sekiguchi Toshio Kokeshi Doll – Plum Dance (11cm/4.3 inches)

This creative kokeshi doll was made and signed by master Sekiguchi Toa (1947-). She’s titled 梅舞 (Umemai) which means “Plum Dance”. Made of lovely dogwood (mizuki) she’s holding a red and yellow fan with abstract white plum flowers in a dance pose. Her blue kimono is decorated with two large plum flowers, one in red and one in pink.

Master Sekiguchi Toshio was born in Shibukawa City, Gunma-ken, and still lives and works there, all of whom also create creative Kokeshi dolls. He won many awards including the new comer award at the young age of 15.

In mint condition. Comes in the original box with the original wooden sign.
