Vintage Kokeshi Doll by Yamanaka Sanpei (14cm/5.5 inches)

This chubby vintage kokeshi was made and signed by master Yamanaka Sanpei (1926-2012). She’s wearing a red kimono with black spots and has a very innocent look in her eyes. She’s similar to Sanpei’s Prime Minister award winning 昔話 (old tale) doll.

Yamanaka Sanpei has won over 20 awards for his kokeshi dolls including the prestigious “Prime Minister Award” in 1979. Sanpei’s inspiration for kokeshi doll designs often come from children.

In good condition with visible signs of age and use.
