Takahashi Hashime Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Haregi (36.5cm/14.3 inches)

This beautiful vintage creative kokeshi doll made and signed by Takahashi Hashime. Her title is 晴着 (Haregi) which refers to special occasion clothing in Japanese. This term is often used for kimonos, that are worn for celebrations, festivals, and other formal events. 晴 (hare) means “clear” or “fine” (often associated with good weather), and 着 (gi) means “clothing” so 晴着 conveys the idea of dressing up in fine attire for auspicious or happy occasions.
