Watanabe Yuji Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Warabe (12.5cm/4.9 inches)

This wonderful creative kokeshi was made and signed by Watanabe Yuji who’s considered to be one of Japan’s leading kokeshi artists today. He was born in Shiroishi city, Miyagi prefecture in 1951 and has been creating amazing kokeshi dolls for over 50 years.

She is titled 童 (Warabe) which means “Child”. Her dark red kimono features origami cranes in natural wood color and black.

She’s in pretty good condition but has a scratch on the face. The top of the hair has some white residue/color between the wood carvings. There are no cracks. Please inspect all pictures.
