This vintage kokeshi doll was made by Teruo Yokoyama (1953-2005) who was an extremely talented artist who sadly passed away at a rather young age.
She’s wearing a green kimono with auspicious Seigaiha which is a traditional Japanese pattern of interlocking waves that symbolizes good luck, peace, and tranquility. Her kimono is also decorate with Suisha which are water wheels that were historically used for irrigation. In Japan, they are considered to be a symbol of nostalgia and harmony with nature.
In very good condition with signs of age and use.
