Vintage Creative Kokeshi by Sadao Kishi 71cm

Vintage kokeshi doll by award winning master Sadao Kishi (1932-1998).

Born in Gunma prefecture in 1932. His creative kokeshi dolls received various awards incluing the Prime Minister’s Award and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award (METI). He is credited with being one of the major influences of the ‘Creative Kokeshi Movement’, gaining recognition for the dolls as a popular and valid art form.
