Kano Chiyomatsu Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Gentle Breeze (22cm/8.6 inches)

This vintage kokeshi doll was made & signed by the award winning master Kano Chiyomatsu (1935-). Her title is そよ風 (Soyokaze) which means “Gentle Breeze”. Her body resembles a chalice with the head sitting on a bed of flowers. Master Chiyomatsu used very few gentle brush strokes for her cute hair and she also has a very kind look on her face.

Kano Chiyomatsu began making kokeshi dolls in 1953, one of the most decorated and prized masters in Japan. He already passed away though the exact year is unknown. He has won the prestigious prime minister award twice and many other awards for his beautiful kokeshi dolls.

In great condition with minor signs of age and use. Comes in the original box.
