This vintage creative kokeshi was made by the two-times Prime minster award winner master Kuribayashi Issetsu (1926-2011). She’s holding a cute baby and wearing a beautiful kimono with camellia flowers and red petals.
Master Kuribayashi Issetsu was born in Yonezawa City in Yamagata prefecture in 1926. He’s considered one of the founding fathers of creative kokeshi dolls and he has won almost every possible award for his beautiful creations. He began his career in 1955 and he is also featured in the Nuremberg Toy Museum in Germany alongside master Watanabe Masao.
In great condition with signs of age and use. Comes with the original box.
