Fumio Tomidokoro Kokeshi Doll – Suigetsu (16cm/6.3 inches)

This beautiful creative Kokeshi doll was made & signed by Fumio Tomidokoro (1948-). He’s titled 水月 (Suigetsu) which means “The moon reflected on the water”. Fumio san made a brilliant use of the wood’s natural pattern to create an serene scene of water ripples with the moon’s reflection in the center as the kokeshi passes through nature, perhaps on a pilgrimage journey (there are quite a few in Japan).

In mint condition, comes with the original box and wooden sign.
