Cute Vintage Kokeshi by Yamanaka Sanpei – Nodoka (15cm/5.9 inches)

This cute vintage kokeshi features a pointy, chestnut looking head with a very calm, innocent and child-like expression on her face. The wood grain shows beautifully throughout her body and especially on her face. Her title is 長閑 (Nodoka) which means “Tranquil, calm, peaceful”.
She made and signed by master Yamanaka Sanpei (1926-2012) who won over 20 awards for his kokeshi dolls including the prestigious “Prime Minister Award” in 1979. Sanpei’s inspiration for kokeshi doll designs often come from children.

In great condition with a minor mark on the face. Comes in the original box.
