This vintage creative kokeshi doll was made and signed by the late master Kobayashi Inosuke (1931-2000). Her title is 春風 (Harukaze) which means “Spring Breeze”. She’s wearing a kimono with beautiful plum flowers which symbolize the end of winter and beginning of spring in Japan. They also symbolize resilience and perseverance.
Kobayashi Inosuke was born in 1931 in Gunma prefecture and won multiple awards for his kokeshi dolls throughout his life, including winning the prestigious Prime Minister award in 1979. His dolls are usually tall and elegant featuring natural wood colors combined colorful kimonos.
In great condition with signs of age and use.
