This beautiful and slightly chubby kokeshi doll was made by the talented and long time kokeshi artist Yahagi Ichiko (1952-). Her title is 椿 (Tsubaki) which means “Camellia”. Her Kimono is decorated with a repeating floral pattern in pink, green and white with a yellow kimono belt (obi) in the middle. The bottom part of her kimono has several camellia flowers drawn. The hair is tied with a cute red ribbon and her hairstyle features two carving styles – one with straight lines and the back part with many small round carvings.

Ichiko Yahagi was born in Ishikawa prefecture, Kaga city in 1952. She has won many prizes for her unique and beautiful kokeshi dolls and also taught the art of kokeshi making to active artists.

In mint condition. Comes with a black wooden base and the original box.
