This creative Kokeshi doll was made by Fumio Tomidokoro (1948-). Her title is 花暦 (Hanagoyomi) which means “Flower Calendar”. It refers to a calendar that marks the blooming periods of various flowers throughout the year, highlighting the seasonal changes and the beauty of nature. It can also be used more generally to refer to the natural cycle of flower blooming. Her kimono is meticulously carved and decorated with beautiful sakura flowers and various shades of pink and red. It’s really amazing how much detail Tomidokoro san can include in such a small piece of wood.

In near-mint condition. Comes in the original box.
