Kato Tatsuo Kokeshi Doll – Beauty Of The Red Bamboo Grove (29cm/11.4 inches)

This lovely kokeshi doll is titled 主竹林小町 (Shuchikurin Komachi) which means “Vermillion Bamboo Grove Beauty”.

Kato Tatsuo was born in 1940 in Maebashi city, Gunma prefecture which is home to many famous kokeshi artists. He learned kokeshi doll art under the renowned master Sekiguchi Sansaku and he has won multiple prizes and awards for his beautiful works and contribution to Japanese culture.

In near-mint condition. Comes with the original box and wooden sign.
