Yuko Yamazaki Creative Kokeshi Doll – Sakura Sakura (19cm/7.4 inches)

This creative kokeshi doll was made and signed by Yuko Yamazaki (1956-). Her title is さくらさくら (Sakura Sakura) which means “Cherry blossoms, cherry clossoms”. It’s both the title and opening words of a very famous Japanese folk song about the beauty of the cherry blossom in spring.

Yuko Yamazaki was born in 1956 and learned the art of kokeshi dolls from master Yoshida Takashi. She has won many prizes for her unique and beautiful kokeshi dolls and also taught the art of kokeshi making to active artists.
