Yoshida Takashi Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Flower Basket (30.3cm/11.9 inches)

This beautiful vintage creative kokeshi doll was made and signed by Yoshida Takashi. Her title is 花筐 (Hanagatami) which means “Flower Basket”. The expression 花筐 has been used in classical Japanese literature and it can also mean “Beauty and Elegance”. Her meticulously carved kimono is decorated with patches of plum flowers. Plums are considered to be auspicious in Japan since they blossom first after the winter, hence they symbolize perseverance and hope.

Yoshida Takashi is a renowned creative kokeshi artist and has won several top prizes in Japan for his amazing and skillful works.

In great condition with minor marks of age and use. Has several faded spots on the back of her hair. Comes with the original wooden sign.
