Japanese vintage creative kokeshi doll made by master Kazuo Takamizawa (1927~). She has a yellow kimono with auspicious asanoha (hemp) pattern in shades of orange, dark red and light green. Her dark green obi (kimono belt) creates a nice contrast with the base kimono color.
Kazuo Takamizawa was born in 1927 and started making kokeshi doll in his early 20’s. At the beginning he used very little color and starting from the 70’s he began giving his creations more color. He has won the prestigious prime minister award along other prizes for his works.
In very good condition with minor signs of age and use. The dark line on the back is part of the wood grain.
