Shirahama Kumiko Kokeshi Doll – Message From The North (17cm/6.7 inches)

This adorable kokeshi doll was made by the talented, long time kokeshi artist Shirahama Kumiko (1952~).

Her title is 北便り (Kitadayori) which can be translate to “Message From The North” (it can also mean a letter from the north, or news from the north). Her body is decorated with beautiful Solomon’s-Seal flowers which can be seen in the forests of Hokkaido where Shirahama san was born and raised. They are known to have a bell shape flowers that are facing down with broad green leaves.
