Sekiguchi Toshio Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Warabe (10.5cm/4.1 inches)

This bulky vintage creative kokeshi doll was made and signed by master Sekiguchi Toa (1942-). She’s titled わらべ (Warabe) which means “Child”. She’s made of keyaki (zelkova) wood and has beautifully carved hair, a natural wood color kimono with abstract flower carvings.

Master Sekiguchi Toa was born in Shibukawa City, Gunma-ken. His brother, Toshio, also makes creative Kokeshi dolls. He won many awards including the Ministry of International Trade Industry Award in 1978. Since then he has won the Prime Minister’s Award, along with other respected awards.

In mint condition. Comes in the original box.
