Sekiguchi Toshio Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Hana Otome (15.5cm/6.1 inches)

This bulky vintage creative kokeshi doll was made and signed by master Sekiguchi Toa (1942-). She’s titled 花乙女 (Hana Otome) which means “Flower Girl”. Her hair is decorated with a cute golden ribbon and simple, abstract flowers in pink. Her kimono is decorated similarly in golden flowers with green leaves. Toshio san gave her an extremely cute face with a wide smile.

Master Sekiguchi Toa was born in Shibukawa City, Gunma-ken. His brother, Toshio, also makes creative Kokeshi dolls. He won many awards including the Ministry of International Trade Industry Award in 1978. Since then he has won the Prime Minister’s Award, along with other respected awards.

In great condition. Comes with the original wooden sign.
