Sekiguchi Toa Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Midori (14.5cm/5.7 inches)

This chubby vintage creative kokeshi doll made and signed by master Sekiguchi Toa (1942-). She’s titled みどり (Midori) which means “Green” and “Greenery”. Her kimono is dark green with simple decorations.

Master Sekiguchi Toa was born in Shibukawa City, Gunma-ken. His brother, Toshio, also makes creative Kokeshi dolls. He won many awards including the Ministry of International Trade Industry Award in 1978. Since then he has won the Prime Minister’s Award, along with other respected awards.

In good condition with one mark on the face.
