It’s a modern playful take on “The Three Wise Monkeys”.
Left: Kikazaru, who hears no evil, covering her ears because she’s wearing headphones. A monkey besides her is covering his ears.
Middle: Iwazaru, who speaks no evil, covering her mouth with a mask. She’s holding a monkey with his mouth covered.
Right: Mizaru, who sees no evil, covering her eye with an eyepatch. She’s holding a monkey covering his eyes.
The Three Wise Monkeys are a traditional Japanese symbol representing the proverb “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil”. They teach the idea of avoiding wrongdoing by refusing to engage with evil actions or words.
They became famous through carvings at the Toshogu Shrine in Nikko, and are often seen as a reminder of moral discipline, wisdom, and mindful behavior.
