This tall vintage creative kokeshi doll was made by master Miyashita Hajime (1940-). Her title is 古都の夢 (Koto no Yume) which means “Dream of the Old Capital” which is a nostalgic reference to Kyoto or Nara (Japan’s old capitals). She’s wearing a blue kimono with white flower decorations, a red obi on the front which is also shown on the back in black.

Miyashita Hajime is a multiple award winner master who was born in 1940. The current Japanese emperor and empress are fans of him and used to collect his dolls. In 2006 he retired after his kokeshi shop burnt down in a fire.

In very good condition with signs of age and use. Has a mark on the forehead. The wood grain on the lower half of the face is slightly darker. Comes with the original box. Please inspect all the pictures.
