Vintage creative kokeshi doll by master Miyashita Hajime (1940-). Her title is おとめの夢 (Otome No Yume) which means “Young Girl’s Dream.” In Japanese culture, it often evokes a sense of romantic or aspirations typical of young women. The phrase can be used in various contexts, such as literature and poems, to convey themes of innocence, hope, and the pursuit of one’s dreams. Her black kimono reveals beautiful wood pattern and it’s also decorated with red camellia flowers.

Miyashita Hajime is a multiple award winner master who was born in 1940. The current Japanese emperor and empress are fans of him and used to collect his dolls. In 2006 he retired after his kokeshi shop burnt down in a fire.

In good condition with marks of age and use. Comes with the original wooden sign. Please inspect all pictures.
