Masashi Takeda Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Akikusa (17cm/6.7 inches)

This kokeshi doll was made & signed by Takeda Masashi who was born in 1930 in Yonezawa city, Yamagata prefecture.

Her title is 秋草 (Akikusa) which means “Autumn Plants”, which is often related to traditional Japanese art like poetry, and aesthetics that celebrate the beauty of nature during the Japanese autumn season.

Master Takeda Masashi won many prizes for his works. His kokeshi dolls has a unique style, with rich dark wood tones and carved flowers. He barely uses any paint to showcase the beauty of the natural texture of the wood used.

In great condition with minor signs of age and use.
