Kobayashi Inosuke Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Mountain Camellia (28cm/11 inches)

Vintage creative kokeshi doll by the late master Kobayashi Inosuke (1931-2000). Her title is 山椿 which means “Mountain Camellia” and refers to camellia that grows in the wild. Her kimono is beautifully decorated with red vivid camellia flowers and she’s wearing a sleeveless gray haori on top of it.

He was born in 1931 in Gunma prefecture and won multiple awards for his kokeshi dolls throughout his life, including winning the prestigious Prime Minister award in 1979. His dolls are usually tall and elegant featuring natural wood colors combined colorful kimonos.

In great condition with minor signs of age and use.
