Kazuo Takamizawa Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Springtime (19cm/7.4 inches)

This lovely vintage kokeshi is titled 方春 (Hoshun) which means “Springtime”. She’s wearing a kimono in dark blue, gold and natural wood colors and has masterfully and beautifully engraved decorations. Made and signed by master Kazuo Takamizawa (1927~).

Kazuo Takamizawa was born in 1927 and started making kokeshi doll in his early 20’s. At the beginning he used very little color and starting from the 70’s he began giving his creations more color. He has won the prestigious prime minister award along other prizes for his works.

In great condition with marks of age and use.
