This Japanese vintage creative kokeshi doll was made and signed by master Kazuo Takamizawa (1927~). Her body is decorated with both auspicious plum flowers as well as camellias on the bottom. You can tell by the amount of detail how long it took master Takamizawa to create this doll. The wood used is dark and the part chosen for the face has a unique wooden pattern. Her stylish hair is split to two with a small gap and she also has a hair ornament.
Kazuo Takamizawa was born in 1927 and started making kokeshi doll in his early 20’s. At the beginning he used very little color and starting from the 70’s he began giving his creations more color. He has won the prestigious prime minister award along other prizes for his works.
In great condition with minor signs of age and use.
