Kato Tatsuo Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Otome (23.5cm/9.2 inches)

This lovely vintage kokeshi doll was made and signed by Kato tatsuo (1940~). Her title is 乙女 (Otome) which means “Young Maiden”. She’s made of simply mizuki (dogwood) and she has a very simply kimono with simple floral carvings and cute pigtails.

Kato Tatsuo was born in 1940 in Maebashi city, Gunma prefecture which is home to many famous kokeshi artists. He learned kokeshi doll art under the renowned master Sekiguchi Sansaku and he has won multiple prizes and awards for his beautiful works and contribution to Japanese culture.

In great condition with signs of age and use. Comes with the original box.
