This creative kokeshi doll was made and signed by Ichiko Yahagi (1952-). Her title is 卯月 (Uzuki) which is another name for the 4th month of the lunar calendar. It correlates more or less to April and it’s related to spring blossoming of flowers, especially deutzia flowers. 卯 can also mean rabbit hence her kimono is decorates with colorful flowers and white rabbits. Her hair is beautifully carved in different widths and also has a lovely red ribbon around her hair bun.

Ichiko Yahagi was born in Ishikawa prefecture, Kaga city in 1952. She has won many prizes for her unique and beautiful kokeshi dolls and also taught the art of kokeshi making to active artists.

In mint condition. Comes with a black wooden base and the original box.
