This exclusive kokeshi doll was made by the talented and long time kokeshi artist Yahagi Ichiko (1952-). Her title is 花あそび (Hana Asobi) which means “Flower Arranging” (it can also mean playing with or enjoying flowers). It refers to activities related to flowers, such as arranging them creatively or simply enjoying their beauty. This can be part of traditional Japanese cultural practices like ikebana (the art of flower arranging), but it can also refer more casually to playing or interacting with flowers in a creative or recreational way such as the way Yahagi san draw her stunning colorful kimono.

Ichiko Yahagi was born in Ishikawa prefecture, Kaga city in 1952. She has won many prizes for her unique and beautiful kokeshi dolls and also taught the art of kokeshi making to active artists.

In mint condition. Comes with a black wooden base, wooden sign and the original box. (*wooden sign isn’t shown in the picture but it is included).
