Hideo Ishihara Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Donko (26cm/10.2 inches)

This vintage creative kokeshi doll was made & signed by the award winning master Hideo Ishihara (1929-1999). Her title is どんこ (Donko) which is a term used for hair gathered high into a cone or a bun (pointy) which this doll definitely fits very well thanks to her adorable hairstyle. The front is decorated with a mix of red and black that create a lovely harmony.

Master Hideo Ishihara (1929-1999) started as a traditional Naruko kokeshi artist. Feeling limited under the traditional design he switched to creative kokeshi and became one of the most influential and prominent artists of his time. He has won over 60 awards including the prestigious prime minister award.

In very good condition with signs of age and use.
