Fumio Tomidokoro Hina Kokeshi Dolls Set (8.4-9.6cm/3.3-3.7 inches)

This vintage hina Kokeshi doll set was made by Fumio Tomidokoro (1948-). The male is wearing a brown kimono with pine tree decorations while the female’s red kimono is decorated with chrysanthemums.

In hina dolls, the left doll tradtionally represents the emperor while the right doll represents the empress. They are put out to displayed during Hina Matsuri which is the Girl’s Festival in Japan at the end of February until the 3rd of March, carrying the wish for the healthy growth of girls.
