This splendid vintage kokeshi doll is titled 炉火 (“Roka”) which means fireplace.
It’s very easy to imagine her in the peak of winter sitting at home with her arms close together enjoying the gentle heat of the fireplace as the firewood crackles.

Kobayashi Inosuke was born in 1931 in Gunma prefecture and won multiple awards for his kokeshi dolls throughout his life, including winning the prestigious Prime Minister award in 1979. His dolls are usually tall and elegant featuring natural wood colors combined colorful kimonos.

In very good condition with some visible marks on the back of her head. Comes with its original wooden sign and wooden base.
