Creative Kokeshi Doll by Ichiko Yahagi – Yayoi (8.5cm/3.3 inches)

Vintage creative kokeshi doll made and signed by Ichiko Yahagi (1952-). Her title is 弥生 (Yayoi) which is a girl’s name and related to the month of March. She’s wearing her spring kimono with lots of cherry blossom flowers in white, pink and red along other flowers in green, yellow and black. The two red ribbons in her hair add to her festive look.

Ichiko Yahagi was born in Ishikawa prefecture, Kaga city in 1952. She has won many prizes for her unique and beautiful kokeshi dolls and also taught the art of kokeshi making to active artists.

In mint condition. Comes with a black wooden base and the original box.
