Vintage creative kokeshi doll made and signed by Ichiko Yahagi (1952-). Her title is “てまり” (Temari), which means “Hand Ball” and is a traditional Japanese folk art. Crafted meticulously by hand, these intricate balls are often made from silk, repurposing kimono scraps to create beautiful and culturally significant pieces.

Ichiko Yahagi was born in Ishikawa prefecture, Kaga city in 1952. She has won many prizes for her unique and beautiful kokeshi dolls and also taught the art of kokeshi making to active artists.

In mint condition. Comes with a black wooden base and the original box.
