Exclusive Vintage kokeshi by the two-times Prime minster award winner master Kuribayashi Issetsu (1926-2011). Her title is 花 (hana) which means “Flower” and she is brilliantly carved with flowers in shades of red, orange and black all around her body.
Master Kuribayashi Issetsu was born in Yonezawa City in Yamagata prefecture in 1926. He’s considered one of the founding fathers of creative kokeshi dolls and he has won almost every possible award for his beautiful creations. He began his career in 1955 and he is also featured in the Nuremberg Toy Museum in Germany alongside master Watanabe Masao.
In great condition apart for a thin filler line on the left side of the head and signs of age and use.
