Sekiguchi Toshio Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Child (23cm/9 inches)

This exclusive colorful vintage creative kokeshi doll made and signed by master Sekiguchi Toshio (1947-). She’s titled 童 (Warabe) which means “Child”. Her kimono is stunningly decorated with carved chrysanthemum flowers in shades of brown and gold. This doll is a prime example of Sekiguchi Toshio’s carving skill and mastery. Made of beautiful keyaki (zelkova) wood.

Master Sekiguchi Toshio was born in Shibukawa City, Gunma-ken, and still lives and works there, all of whom also create creative Kokeshi dolls. He won many awards including the new comer award at the young age of 15.

In great condition with minor marks of age and use.
