This tall vintage creative kokeshi doll was made by master Miyashita Hajime (1940-). Her title is 花の宮 (Hana no Miya) which means “A Palace of Flowers” which in this context would refer to a noble woman. She has traditional hairstyle made of 2 pieces of wood together with a red hairpin. She’s holding a cute umbrella and has an obi (kimono belt) on her back.

Miyashita Hajime is a multiple award winner master who was born in 1940. The current Japanese emperor and empress are fans of him and used to collect his dolls. In 2006 he retired after his kokeshi shop burnt down in a fire.

In very good condition with signs of age and use. Comes with the original box.
