Hideo Ishihara Vintage Kokeshi – Spring in Autumn (29.5cm/11.6 inches)

This vintage creative kokeshi doll was made by the award winning master Hideo Ishihara (1929-1999). Her title is 小春日和 (Koharu Biyori) which means a warm, calm, spring-like day in late autumn or early winter. One of those gentle, sunny days that feel like spring even though it’s already getting cold.

Master Hideo Ishihara (1929-1999) started as a traditional Naruko kokeshi artist. Feeling limited under the traditional design he switched to creative kokeshi and became one of the most influential and prominent artists of his time. He has won over 60 awards including the prestigious prime minister award.

In great condition with signs of age and use.
