Yushi Kawase Big Vintage Kokeshi Doll (28cm/11 inches)

This big and bulky kokeshi was made & signed by Yushi Kawase who was born Gunma prefecture in 1938. She’s made of beautiful keyaki (zelkova) wood and her kimono is decorated with maple leaves, red camellia flowers and chrysanthemums. Together they represent the transition from autumn to winter. This pattern is also commonly seen on kimonos.

In great condition with visible signs of age and use. There’s a sticker on the bottom mentioning the place the doll was bought and the price back in 1984.
