Yuko Yamazaki Creative Kokeshi Doll – Dozing Off (19cm/7.4 inches)

This chubby kokeshi doll was made and signed by the multiple award winning artist Yuko Yamazaki.

Her title is うたたね (Utatane) which means “Dozing Off”. The title refers to calmly and softly falling into a sleep (even while sitting). She’s wearing a black kimono with origami cranes, temari balls and flowers. She’s holding an orange cat comfortably sleeping in her warm arms.

Yuko Yamazaki was born in 1956 and learned the art of kokeshi dolls from master Yoshida Takashi. She has won many prizes for her unique and beautiful kokeshi dolls and also taught the art of kokeshi making to active artists.

In mint condition. Comes with the original box.
