Vintage Kokeshi Doll by Yamanaka Sanpei – Village Lights (19cm/7.4 inches)

This bulky vintage kokeshi doll was made and signed by master Yamanaka Sanpei (1926-) who won over 20 awards for his kokeshi dolls including the prestigious “Prime Minister Award” in 1979. Sanpei’s inspiration for kokeshi doll designs often come from children.

Her title is 里の灯 (Sato no hi) which means “Village Lights”. She’s made of two types of wood with brown and dark brown wood colors.

In great condition with signs of age and use. Has one small chip under the face.
