Watanabe Yuji Vintage Kokeshi Doll – Hanamaru (12cm/4.7 inches)

This wonderful creative kokeshi was made and signed by Watanabe Yuji who’s considered to be one of Japan’s leading kokeshi artists today. He was born in Shiroishi city, Miyagi prefecture in 1951 and has been creating amazing kokeshi dolls for over 50 years.

She is titled 花円 which means a rounded floral shape.
She’s made of keyaki woode and has beautifully carved hair and patterns that are combined into her sleeves.

While the front is in rather good condition, please note that this doll has 2 thin cracks on the back and a water stain on the back as well. The name plate also has some water stains.
