Vintage Shingata Kokeshi Doll (30cm/11.8inches)

A vintage Japanese traditional kokeshi doll with a haiku written on it (short Japanese poem) praising the beauty of Matsuhima bay (one of the 3 most beautiful places in Japan). This haiku was once attributed to Matsuo Basho, the great Japanese poet, but researchers now believe that it belongs to a different poet from Edo period.

Condition: fair with some marks & scratches.
