Vintage Kokeshi Dolls by Yamanaka Sanpei (18-22cm/7-8.6 inches)

Cute vintage kokeshi doll set made and signed by master Yamanaka Sanpei (1926-2012) with simple flower decorations on the front. Made from keyaki (zelkova) wood which has beautiful wood grain.

Yamanaka Sanpei has won over 20 awards for his kokeshi dolls including the prestigious “Prime Minister Award” in 1979. Sanpei’s inspiration for kokeshi doll designs often come from children.
