花かんざし (Hana Kanzashi) by Takeda Masashi who was born in 1930 in Yonezawa city, Yamagata prefecture.
Hana Kanzashi means “Flower Hairpin” and this kind of hair ornament is often worn by maiko (apprentice geisha). This lovely doll has two hairpins, one with a yellow flower and the other with a pink one. Her kimono is also decorated in a similar fashion and her body has a beautiful, warm wood tone.
Master Takeda Masashi was born in Yamagata prefecture in 1930 and won many prizes for his works. His kokeshi dolls has a unique style, with rich dark wood tones and carved flowers. He barely uses any paint to showcase the beauty of the natural texture of the wood used.
In great condition with minor signs of age and use.
