Exclusive Vintage Kokeshi Doll by Shido Shozan Spring Evening (38cm/15.1 inches)

This wonderful and elegant kokeshi doll was made & signed by the famous award winning master Shido Shozan (1932-1995). Her title is 春宵 (Shunsho) which means “Spring Evening”. Her body is made of beautiful enju wood which is contrasted by a golden obi (kimono belt). Her hair is beautifully carved and her eyes simply drawn in one brush stroke (hitofudeme).

Master Shido Shozan was born in Oita prefecture in 1932. He’s known for his delicate and subtle designs which emphasize the wood tone and grain. His dolls often have a simple facial features and his dolls are very popular and sought after among collectors. He has won many awards as well as the most prestigious prime minister award.

In great condition with signs of age and use. Comes in the original box.
