Vintage Hollow Kokeshi Doll by Hideo Ishihara (19cm/7.4 inches)

This unique vintage creative kokeshi was made & signed by award winner master Hideo Ishihara (1929-1999). Her body is hollow and as suggested by another prominent kokeshi artist, Ishihara san may have removed the inner part of it to prevent the doll from cracking since he used the center of the trunk which tends to get cracked.

Master Hideo Ishihara (1929-1999) started as a traditional Naruko kokeshi artist. Feeling limited under the traditional design he switched to creative kokeshi and became one of the most influential and prominent artists of his time. He has won over 60 awards including the prestigious prime minister award.

In great condition with minor signs of age and use.
